#MindIt says United We Care in its recent campaign busting misconceptions around mental health issues
Feb 24 2021 By Admin
United We Care, an app- and web-based platform for your emotional well-being  is asking people to #MindIt when it comes to addressing mental health issues. The campaign, active on the brand’s Instagram handle, talks about how people use certain terms like depression colloquially and the need to raise awareness on the actual manifestation of mental health issues. Through quirky interviews with people about their understanding of mental health issues, United We Care brings forth the incorrect notions they have. The brand’s experts bust myths around these issues and explain the reasons and what it means for someone really undergoing them. The unique campaign addresses depression, panic attacks, and OCD, as well as aspects like past-life regression and anger management.   Speaking about this, Shumita Kakkar, Founder, United We Care, said, “About 26.4 crore people across the world have depression, mental health condition which is often used as a passing jibe by most of us. Panic attacks are often considered as a way of seeking attention and OCD is attributed to an excessive need for being clean. There is also incorrect idea around why people need to undergo a past-life regression or take anger management sessions!   Some common misconceptions that came to the fore during the campaign are as follows.     Depression happens due to office deadlines; people with this condition are looking for emotional anchors; there is no such thing as depression Panic attacks happen to senior people; there are maximum chances of panic attacks in women because they are physically weak; happens due to overthinking and depression Past-life regression is an imaginary concept; it can help us experience our childhood again; it is all about hypnotizing the other person OCD is about getting the perfect cup of coffee; could be related to introverts; the word sounds like it is something bad or dangerous; people with OCD are freaks Women need more anger management     Adding further, Shumita, said, “Given the level of ignorance around mental health issues and the stigma, we at United We Care felt it was time that we addressed this concern in a unique way. The idea was to #MindIt and educate them on these aspects better. Prolonged sadness, excessive anger, unresolved emotions, obsession with a certain habit, and panic attacks are all issues that need therapy and help. They are not to be brushed aside as temporary and need to be understood better.”   United We Care frequently undertakes campaigns to raise awareness around mental health issues, which is the first step. Their campaigns usually center around open conversations around mental health issues and removing the stigma and fear of being judged. The platform helps people get access to tools that help convert negative thoughts into positive conversations.   United We Care’s emotional health virtual assistant Stella is available to chat or talk to users 24x7. Stella can help with Basic CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy) CAT (Cognitive analytical therapy), humanistic, interpersonal or couple therapy. She is a one-of-her-kind assistant with multiple decision trees and the ability to move negative sentiments to positive conversations.   United We Care is also set to launch a new talk called ‘Mind Over Matter’ which will showcase stories of successful people sharing their emotional highs and lows. United We Care attempts to present them as examples of resilience and fighting back and opening up, without the fear of stigma or judgement.   United We Care is a ground-breaking initiative that doesn’t focus only on the problem, but rather on the root causes and provides holistic solutions to its users. It aims to be the support system that is usually missing in the fast-paced digital world of the day. It is the first brand that is going ahead to create a sensitized and valuable support system for the help seekers.   Please find enclosed the link for your reference.    https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLJZ4-9nH65/?igshid=190ntz8v6c8b2   https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLHJDkfHJ3J/?igshid=d3ir35ncqrpq

Feb 18 2021 By Admin
HCL Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of HCL Technologies Ltd., today announced the winners of the sixth round of the HCL Grant, a flagship program dedicated to strengthening India’s “fifth estate” of NGOs working towards nation building. The three NGOs, one each in the development areas of environment, health, and education, will each receive a grant of INR 5 crore ($685,000) for a three to five-year project. In addition, two finalists in each category will receive a one-year grant of INR 25 lakhs ($34,000), making a total grant of INR 16.5 crore. HCL Foundation, which this year celebrates a decade of building strong and robust communities, is committed to contributing to the nation’s growth curve. Under its HCL Grant program, the Foundation has so far committed a more than INR 60 crore ($8.26 Million), excluding this year’s grants. Recognized as one of the most sought-after validations amongst NGO ecosystems in India, the HCL Grant has in the past five years reached over 733,000 beneficiaries. The Grant aims to touch the lives of at least 1.72 million people in 8,598 villages in 70 districts across 18 states and two union territories of India . The winning NGOs of HCL Grant 2021 were:   Sahas (Environment) India Health Action Trust (Health) Child Rights and You (Education)   The NGOs were chosen after an 8-month review of thousands of applications by an eminent jury, monitored and audited by Grant Thornton, the governance partner of HCL Grant. The jury consisted of: Ms. Robin Abrams, Director, HCL Technologies, and Chairperson of the jury; Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, Nestle India Limited; Mr. B. S. Baswan, former Director, Indian Institute of Public Administration, and former Secretary, Human Resource Development ministry; Ms. Pallavi Shroff, Managing Partner,  Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. law firm; Dr. Richard Lariviere, President Emeritus, Field Museum (Chicago), and former President, University of Oregon; and Mr. Shiv Nadar, Founder of HCL, Chief Strategy Officer of HCL Technologies, and Founder and Chairman of the Shiv Nadar Foundation. “The past year was a unique year of resilience and transformation that taught us how to transcend barriers and keep going even in the face of adversity,” said Ms. Abrams. “Despite the pandemic, the robustness demonstrated by our NGO partners, experts, jury members and the entire team is commendable. The passion and zeal of our NGO partners to bring in scalable and replicable solutions have created systemic shifts across geographies, lending velocity to the sustainable development agenda. The winners and finalists of this year’s Grant also have significant stories to tell, with visible on-the-ground impact. My best wishes to these NGOs, who are addressing some of the most pressing issues in the key development categories of environment, health, and education in the most remote corners of the country.” Ms. Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCL Foundation, said: “The year 2020 has been both special and unusual. Special, in that the Foundation is completing ten years of facilitating high-impact, sustainable socio-economic development in rural India. Unusual, in that the NGOs we support had to deal with unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic and various natural disasters, while initiating and implementing their developmental projects. What is inspiring about these NGOs is that they are treating COVID-19 as the ‘new normal’ and are continuing with their path-breaking projects without a pause, creating a much-needed last-mile support framework.”   On the occasion of the grant awards, the HCL Foundation released “Fifth Estate – NGOs Transforming Rural India in Environment, Health and Education,” a compendium featuring the top 30 NGOs selected in the sub-jury round, as well as the previous year’s winning NGOs.

Feb 18 2021 By Admin
With the use of technology at a sudden surge and innovations unfolding every minute, having access to and being familiar with digital tools has become a prerequisite for any career choice. To equip under-resourced children with the necessary skills for the future, Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, is partnering with Ciena (NYSE: CIEN) to establish new Digital Classrooms and Advanced Technology Labs programs in Punjab and Haryana. Through its Digital Inclusion program, Ciena will provide the technology and resources to hire local trainers, to be rolled out before the April 2021 school session resumes.   For young students in rural communities to gain greater exposure to digital learning, the inaugural Digital Classrooms project will use educational technology and devices provided by Ciena to support teaching sessions at 10 primary and elementary Satya Bharti schools in Punjab and Haryana. This arrangement will help to ensure classrooms have the latest technology available so that students can build computer skills and be exposed to more immersive learning opportunities.   The Advanced Technology Labs program will give students a hands-on experience with robotics and gaming at two Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools in Punjab. Ciena will provide 3D modeling kits and printers, laptops, and resources to hire trainers. This will give students preparing for college or others looking to move directly into a career in technology the ability to develop analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills while exercising creativity and teamwork.   Mr. Ryan Perera, Vice President and Country Head, Ciena India said, “There are many gaps in the skills and tools students in rural communities need to succeed and thrive in a digital world. Ciena’s Digital Inclusion program is committed to fostering digital inclusion and expanding opportunities for under-resourced students in our communities. Together with the Bharti Foundation, we are creating a more tech-savvy learning atmosphere to inspire students as they pursue limitless opportunities.”   Speaking on the partnership, Ms. Mamta Saikia, CEO, Bharti Foundation said, “It has been Bharti Foundation’s continuous endeavor to support holistic and quality education. It is a need of the hour to integrate and embed courses that support science, mathematics and computer skills for students into the very curriculum. Digital Classrooms will allow teachers to use interactive, multimedia content and educational apps in our classrooms. We look forward to working with Ciena to achieve these objectives.”
